A is for Argh...and Alzheimer's.

Argh. It's the sound that a pirate makes. It's the sound my AP English 3 teacher makes- very creepy by the way- and it is also the sound I make after dealing with my grandparents.

This past week, I contracted some sort of Upper Respiratory Infection Virus thing. I threw up all over my friend K's very nice powder room..while a bunch of older ladies were out in the living room..looking at pretty jewelry. Yeah. Real nice. I missed the toilet- the lid was down ( as it should be!) and I wasn't quick enough, so chick-fil-a goes all over the top of the lid and the wall...DISGUSTING!
I go out to tell K's mom that I just threw up in her nice, really pretty bathroom. She's like, "Ok. It's fine."
Thank you. :)
I tell my mom in the car, and she says, "You missed the toilet? How?" Gee thanks, Mom.

Then, I wake up on and off through out the night, vomiting up whatever else was left, until there's nothing left. I develop a bad cough. Like, majorly bad, along with serious congestion.
Hmm..maybe it's the FLU?
Nope, Doctor nixed that on Monday, when I went to see him.
It's like the flu, but not the flu.

I've missed 3 days of school because of this illness, and am set to stay home tomorrow, as well. Whatever.
Today, though, my dear grandfather tried to take care of me.
My grandparents are 75 and 73, and both well on their way to the loony bin. Well, not really. My grandfather has Alzheimer's disease and as my mom and aunt and uncle say doesn't know his butt from his elbow, at times. My grandmother's really not any better, except for the fact that she knows which elbow.

GP: You up on your meds?
ME: Yes.
GP: Fluids?
Me: Yup.
GP: Ok. Well, if you need us, holler.
Me: Ok.

Not bad. Actually, kinda sweet.
Not so sweet an hour or two hours later.
My phone rings. It's my grandfather telling me I need to eat.
"I already ate."
"what did you have?"
"a sandwich."
"Who told you you could have that?"
"Who told me? No one told me."
"You've got stomach problems right?"
"NO. I've got congestion and coughing problems."
ANYWHO...
God Bless Alzheimer's patients AND their families and caretakers.
